LAST YEAR THE PEOPLE OF THIS AREA PLAYED A BIG
PART IN DEFEATING DOUBLE TAXATION BY HELPING
TO ELECT A CITY COUNCIL COMMITTED TO ABOLISHING
SERVICE CHARGES.
JOHN GILLIGAN and JOE HARRINGTON led that campaign on the streets and when the local elections came around this community helped make JOHN GILLIGAN an Alderman and JOE HARRINGTON (Ward 3) increased his vote more than any sitting Councillor. In the previous City Council JOE HARRINGTON had spearheaded the opposition to the Charges.
THE MESSAGE IS CLEAR. UNJUST MEASURES CAN BE
DEFEATED BY INDEPENDENT WORKING CLASS ACTION
AND PEOPLE CAN BE ELECTED WHO WILL KEEP THEIR
