funeral of James McDaid arrived in Dublin. But there were no generous words for the widowed mother from Liam Cosgrave, which might at a future date be recognised as belonging to the generous tradition by a biographer of Erskine senior, or even John Gaffney, John Murphy and Patrick Farrelly, all executed inside about three weeks in Nov.—Dec. 1922.
Bad memories for Cosgrave jr. to conveniently cover up at the present time. rebound off the ground, so they are fired at head level. They are developed by personnell who are supposedly ‘neutral’ in the state machinery in Britain and in Their use indicates that in taking on British imperialism there is more than just an army against us — there is a whole system. STATEMENT FROM P.D. re British Green Paper To-day’s green paper from the British Government is a smoke-screen of empty verbiage which the British hope will help provide a cover under which they can withdraw militarily from Ireland and leave a loyalist, fascist junta in control.
The British have decided that the proposed convention elections will provide a veneer of democracy for their handover of power to the loyalists. When they have taken the reins of power, the Loyalists, through their various military groupings — the U.D.A., U.V.F., U.D.R., R.U.C. etc. will attempt to use total repression against the anti-Unionist population. The policy is ‘“‘Croppies lie down’’.
We in Peoples Democracy are pledged to resist such a loyalist take-over. We call on.the anti-Unionist population to prepare immediately to defeat loyalist and British plans. The publication of the Green paper indicates the laying of the foundation for the implemention of these plans. Equally our preparations for defence against and resistance to, the fascist take-over must be stepped up.
